I loved this program from the first moment I saw it (at the 2002 Winter Olympics) and it still is my favorite Short Program. To me, it is one of the best programs ever performed by Alexei Yagudin and one of the most perfect programs (technically & artistically) in general. It's the one program he always performed perfectly (or very close to it) and you could see he really enjoyed performing. He totally deserved all those high marks he received for it. I have to admit my interest in Alexei Yagudin faded a bit over the past 2 years but I will always love the Winter Program. Everything in this program just matched perfectly. Once again, the very simle black and white costume (that symbolizes a tree in winter) looked great and put the highlight on the skating. The music itself is awesome but the choreography yet emphasized and completed it. The footwork is simply amazing. It's not just technically impressive but also very beautiful to watch. No meaning to offend anyone but personally I doubt that anyone else could have performed the program the way Alexei Yagudin did. He showed so much passion and personality and although it's a very powerful and kinda fast rhythm his skating looked so easy and smooth, like floating over the ice.

Alexei Yagudin

He's a Russian Figure Skater, originally born in St Petersburg (Russia) but living and training in Conneticut (USA). In 2002 he won Olympic Gold in SLC. His total score, 106.6 out of a possible maximum of 108, was the highest ever recorded by an individual skater in the history of the Olympic Games. He won the "Triple Crown" (Grand Prix, European & World Champion) that year. He has been the second youngest man to win a World title and holds the record of 4 gold medals at World Championships altogether. He became a preofessional in 2004 after a serious hip injury and is participating in many shows and professional competitions now as well as coaching and choreographing.
